Review of Activities 2008

January - December 2008

During the period 1st January to 31st December 2008,
befriending sessions were conducted at the Mithuruwela
Center for a period of 122 days.

A total number of 230 New callers were befriended.
There were 717 Old callers (on going befriending sessions).

The total number of befriending sessions conducted for the
122 day period was 947. This is an average of 8 callers a day.

Of the 230 callers befriended, 72 are males and 158 are females.



Seventy Five of those befriended were Patients while the remaining 155 were Caregivers.

The Primary Needs/Concerns of the Callers were as follows :

January - December 2007


During the period 1st January to 31st December 2007,
befriending sessions were conducted at the Mithuruwela
Center for a period of 111 days.

A total of 638 callers were befriended, of which 179 were
‘new callers’ and 459 were ‘old callers’. Sixty one callers
visited the Center just once (new caller), while 118 made
multiple visits (old caller).

The average number of callers befriended per day has
increased from 4 last year to 6 in 2007.

Of the 179 callers, 42 are males and 137 are females.
The center continues to attract a greater proportion
of females.




Fifty two of those befriended were Patients while the remaining 127were Caregivers.

befriending sessions were conducted at the Mithuruwela
Center for a period of 111 days.

A total of 432 callers was befriended, of which 103 were
‘new callers’ and 329 were ‘old callers’. Thirty callers
visited the Center just once (new caller), while 73 made
multiple visits (old caller).

The average number of callers befriended per day was 4.

Of the 103 callers, 40 are males and 63 are females.


Thirty Six of those befriended were Patients
while the remaining 67 were Caregivers

Review of Activities 2005


July 20th – 31st December 2005


During the period 20th July 2005 to 31st December 2005,

befriending sessions were conducted at the Mithuruwela

Center for a period of 47 days.


A total of 188 callers was befriended, of which 63 were

‘new callers’ and125 were ‘old callers’. Twenty eight callers

visited the Center just once (new caller), while 35 made

multiple visits (old caller).

The average number of callers befriended per day was 4.


Of the 63 callers, 26 are males and 37 are females.





Twenty of those befriended were Patients while the

remaining 43 were Caregivers.
